LAST EDITED ON 27-04-01 AT 11:39 AM (GMT)[p]Does anybody have any detailed information about the upgrades planned for the CF-18s? Is it similar to the HUG upgrade currently being performed on RAAF Hornets, which follows a minor upgrade already performed on all RAAF Hornet to make them AMRAAM and ASRAAM compatible? The HUG upgrade entails new avionics including INS with embedded GPS, new radios, new IFF, upgraded mission computers, replacement of APG-65 with APG-73, new EW suite (including new RWR, new jammers, new counter measures dispensers), HMS, upgraded datalink and cockpit displays. AFAIK, the Canadian program also involves the replacement of the APG-65 with the APG-73, but will only be performed on 80 aircraft (the other 42 to be retired? I think there was a post about major cuts to the Canadian Armed Forces a while back, maybe the Canadians are doing a kiwi :)). Any more details? Will the CF-18s be made AMRAAM compatible, and will the Canadian Forces actually order the AMRAAM?
