You may or may not be sad to know that XV208, the Hercules W.2, made its last flight for the Met Research Flight yesterday (Thurs).
So the world’s most capable (along with the NOAA Orions) weather research aircraft fell victim to the bean counters. Don’t know what will happen to it, and its partial replacement is a civvy BAe 146 which the Met Office scientists can ‘buy’ time on. Seems to me to be a false economy at a time when the world, including the UK, seems to be suffering ever more from costly floods, droughts etc etc
