I read on some site (airforce-technology.com) that the Harrier FA.2 has a maximum high altitude speed of Mach 1.25. My guess is that this is just like BAE Systems’ claims of their supersonic Hawk (ie, supersonic Mach 1.2 in a shallow 30degree dive, and that’s a REDLINE speed), but I would like some sort of conformation. I do know that Sea Harriers are a good deal faster than their American developed counterparts (AV-8BII+ and GR.7), but I do not think they can go supersonic. Like I said, my guess is that the Mach 1.25 is a redline speed, and can only be achieved in a dive.
