Ground Kounched AMRAAM

anyboy has info on grounbd louched amraam ..it supose to same as aa but its fited on humvee and used and MedRange SAM.. aparently norvegans have already bought some and spain is about to do same.

Description: In addition to its air-to-air capabilities, the sophisticated Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) can also be utilized as a short-range, surface-launched air defense weapon. The AMRAAM’s range is classified in its air-defense role, but extends 21 miles when fired from an aircraft. Ground-launched AMRAAM’s can be fired from both the HAWK Air Defense system and Humvee vehicles.

Notes: The cost of an AMRAAM is $350,000-375,000. The U.S. is currently negotiating with Spain for a ground based system and the Pentagon recently approved the missile for Egypt’s air defense requirement. Over the next 15 years Raytheon expects to sell over 5,000 AMRAAMs for air defense purposes. In 1997, Raytheon developed the HAWK-AMRAAM Air Defense system with the Norwegian firm, Kongsberg Gruppen, ASA. Norway deployed the first air defense AMRAAM system in 1998.
