Now we’ve effectively trashed and thrashed the best of the current generation of Main Battle Tanks, well as best as you probably could on an airforce board :-), I feel compelled to ask the logical next question:
What do you think the future holds for armoured warfare?
Do you think the MBT i.e Chal2, Leopard2, M1 are finished on the battlefield by advanced ATGM’s, attack choppers etc.?
Do you think that the nature of war, at least from the perspective of perceived threats to NATO forces, and the necessity to rapidly be able to deploy ground forces to almost any theatre, has seriously limited the value of cumbersome 60 ton heavy armoured vehicles?
Do you think that heavy armour will simply evolve to meet the new challenges as it has done for decades? i.e I saw a prototype on TV a while back for a T-72 or T-80 with a twin 20mm AAA installtion integrated into the standard turret. Could that be the shape of things to come?
Regs,
