F-105 vs F-15E

Has anyone ever done a comparison between these two classic aircraft? The “Thud” was TAC’s long range heavy striker for a good many years and bore the brunt of strikes on North Vietnamese targets for the early part of that war. If I’m not mistaken, the F-105D was the largest single-seat tactical aircraft ever used by the USAF. Used a lot of runway but steady as a rock in high speed flight and pilots used to say that its engine was so tough “you could put a rock in the front and get dust out the back”. Didn’t carry any fuel in the wings (I believe) so battle damage there wouldn’t cause any fuel loss.
Would an updated F-105 be viable today or just a flying museum piece?
