Thermobaric weapons!!

These babies have suddenly become a “hot” (excuse the pun) topic here in the UK when it was discovered that DERA (I think) will/had develop/ed them for the British armed forces, in particular the RAF. The whole problem, it seems to me, was that the general British public heard about their use by the Russians in Chechenya and thought “why don’t we have something like that?” so the MoD revealed their development. Then all the media types suddenly remembered that thermobaric weapons were the cause of many civilian deaths and started the whole “are our boys going to be killing civies with these things?”.

Those are my thoughts, what are yours?
