The truth about Desert Storm air war?

Friends,

It is now a decade since the fateful desert strom. And I was reading Tom Clancy’s Every Man a Tiger. It of course paints a picture of US victory- but there are interesting nuggets. For example, he highlights the worry the US had about Iraqi pilots as they were trained by Pakistan.

Now my point is- Desert Storm saw the western allies take very heavy losses say compared to Allied Force. By US admissions alone- over 45 planes were destroyed and over a 100 damaged. Credible sources say that the total number of losses could be close to 100- Russian defence minister giving an account of the effectiveness of Russian air defence systems in the Russian parliament soon after Desert Strom gave US losses at 93 planes. That is a lot of losses given how outmatched the Iraqis were. Even if we take the official US number of 45- the US claims that all were due to ground fire or non comabt related losses- and recently one F-18 is being cited as being shot down by MiG-25. Given how well trained the Iraqi Air Force was even in the eyes of leading western writers like Clancy- is this credible??? I belive the US is tryin to save face here. In fact, I believe the cream of Iraqi fighter pilots (those trained by PAF as cited by Clancy) would have fared much better- and many more western fighters were lost to air combat. The truth will be out one day.
