Give the RAF time…and myabe just maybe!!

In the world today the RAF has spent Billions on the Eurofighter project and I am talking around the £200 billion mark. Once this aircraft comes in to service I believe that the RAF will have a proper AA capability under the proviso that they keep the blooming cannon. The reason they are not scrapping the Harrier just yet is that the entire Fleet Air Arm and Royal Navy strike capability is based on the Harrier. Since all three carriers are designed for the Harrier then until the new carriers comes in to service they will be here to stay…plain and simople. The Jaguar aircraft has always proven it’s worth and due to the fact that it provides the RAF’s Close Air Support capabilty along with the Harrier…until the JSF comes alongs it is here to stay as well.

I also came up with a weird and wonderful idea. If the Jag were to be scrapped what about modifying F3 airframes which are being removed with the arrival of the Typhoon up to GR4 status. This could provide a formidable CAS stop gap solution.

The poor accuracy rates in Kosovo were down to bad weather nothing to do with the RAF. Anyway it is hard to define what could be considered a successdul strike with all the variables involved such as decoys set up by the serbs, dust clouds an wreckage from previous strikes etc.

Maverick.
