In Dec 2009 the design was completed, how far along have they actually went into building it now?
how does it compare to the Russian corvette, Steregushchy?

Gayduck lives!
A year and a half later from when first keel was laid down, at least one section has been completed.

Зенитный арткомплекс ближнего рубежа (1×7-30 мм)
That’s not AK630…. might be a Goalkeeper CIWS (or chinese equivalent Type 730). In addition 76mm + 2x 20mm > combination suggests a swicht to mainly western weaponry.
Well, yes. It’s a design offered for export, and until recently the Gayduck was also supposed to have Western weapon systems; this got changed.
But you’ll note that aside from the radar, the hull and superstructure design seems to match what snake65 posted. I am of the opinion that the under-construction Gayduck was originally derived from this design.

TR1, I believe this would be a good indication as to what the ‘updated’ Gayduck will look like.
http://www.srdsc.com/fregatyi/tornado–2.html
Courtesy of the Nikoylaev Design Bureau, which also advertises the ‘older’ Gaiduk corvette design seen above.
While it’s advertised as a ‘fast frigate’ the displacement(~2500 tonnes) and propulsion system(CODAG) corresponds to what we’ve heard before.
If this is what is under construction it’ll be a formidable ship and more than a match for the Stereguschy, with 16xVLS for SAMs and 16xVLS for Klub.

So we are looking at a floating out time of ~2015 if funding is stable, and assuming weapons integration goes smoothly.
Looks like a decent if conservative design. Wait and see how it comes out I guess.

Any news on status of hull?
Rumours say that sections 1 and 3 have been constructed up to the main deck. Hard to say how much of the equipment is inside.

Good find, looks like the Russian-sourced version of the Gayduck.
Supposedly money made its way to the ship this year, so hopefully we get details soon.

Ukranian, from Kvant.
Ah, I though it was from the Arsenal Design Bureau.
I’ve been trying without success to locate the web sites for these 2 firms for a long time(Kvant and Arsenal). Do you have any links?
