The keel laying ceremony was held today in Newport News for CVN-78, USS Gerald R. Ford. We will have to see how the EMALS work in practice.

I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Which, is the hometown of the Late Former US President. As a matter of fact I had the privilege of meeting President Ford on a number of occasions. I was my honor to campaign for the first CVN-21 to be named after him.

As for the Carrier……..they don’t call them “Super Carriers” for nothing!;)

BTW I plan of attending the Commissioning of the USS Gerald R. Ford after its construction is complete.

No different than any other new piece of technology. Hell, I’ll bet people even complained about the first guy who thought to replace oars with sails.
