After a fatal pressure main accident and almost 2 year’s of an indepth refurbishment process, the Brazilian carrier São Paulo has this week left the Navy Ship Yards (AMRJ) in Rio de janeiro to take part in the 200th anniversary celebration for Admiral Tamandaré. The re-certification trials are to start soon, and afterwards it is due to take part in several exercises. Also recent government procurement nots indicate that 5 used S-2 aircraft have been purchased for conversion to S-2T power and subsequent use aboard the São Paulo.

Are the Skyhawks still getting a modernization similar to the Brazilian F-5’s?
No Scooter, unfortunately at this point the Embraer unsolicited proposal to fit the MdB A-4Ku with “F-5EM” advanced cockpit, weapons and assorted flight systems has been formally dropped because of the lack of available funds…

The waist catapult has been totally refurbished and zero-timed, the front on will follow in the future.

Note that the French Navy characteristic white triangle on the end of the side hanging flightdeck is now gone. And that the whole flightdeck has been repainted to a Brazilian standard.
