Hello!
I’m mostly a quiet reader in this forum, but this one isn’t going out of my head for quite a time now.
On the last Euronaval it was reported that DCN offers Saudi-Arabia a corvette called FASTWIND which is able to run at 43knots 😮 .
Does anyone have some information on this vessel? Dimenions, pictures, sensors and weapons fitted?
Thanks in advance.

From what I read, Merlock is correct, it is basically the Gowind 200 design but with a different propulsion system that allows it to reach those high speeds, so if you see a picture of the Gowind 200, you are pretty much looking at the Fastwind. It is competing against the LCS designs being offered to Saudi Arabia by the US.
I’m not sure about the modularity of that design so my choice would actually be the new MEKO CSL design, combines the best of the MEKO modularity with the lessons learned from the Visby design, not to mention the high-speed >40knots.

Are there any drawings, pics of models, etc, to have a better idea of this so called Fastwind project???
Thx

Fastwind is mostly based on the Gowind 200 design, with similar dimensions, displacement (1950 tonnes) and equipement, but its hull is fitted with a “hydrofoil” system to allow her a higher speed…
As for the appearance it’s a hydrofoil-equipped Gowind, quite simply.
I’m not convinced by the design…
