I was wondering, does the US Navy still use the A-4, The reason I ask is I live near a US Navy base and see a lot of what look like A-4s flying around.

It is possible that they could have been the BAE operated A-4s, which are used by the Luftwaffe for target towing duties. I can’t think of many other A-4 users that would be in Spain though – Brazil, Argentina, Malaysia, and Indonesia not being likely for geographical reasons. The only other possibilities would be Israeli and Singaporean A-4s (which are based in France).

Well I bit more background info, I am in Spain near a Naval Base called Rota(Down in the south near Gibraltar) There is a lot of Navy and military airplanes around(Things like C-5s, F-16s and Helicopters). I saw 2 airplanes that looked a lot like A-4s.
Then I thought, does the Spanish Airforce use them?

What happened to the small number of aircraft used by the USN as adversary/agressor aircraft? There are now larger numbers of F-5 aircraft in their place is all I can see for now.
Brazil and Argentina still operate A-4 variants, although not sure they would be going on many tours outside of South America.

The final aircraft were retired in 2003 – VC-8 ‘Redtails’ based out of Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico. They stood down the final aircraft on the 26th August 2003, (though officially the 30th September), in a ceremony at NAS Oceana. They were no longer needed after the Vieques range was closed down.

The Reserves might, but I think the frontline Scooters were all retired by the mid 90’s.
