F8FP Bearcat

Hi All
 I know this sounds like a daft request but somewhere in my aviation library, I know I have a picture of an F8FP Bearcat flying a mission over Korea and I can even remember the caption pointing out that most readers would find this to be fairly unbelievable.

Can anyone help? Am I dreaming? Did the Bearcat fly over Korea? Finally can anyone suggest to me in which book that photograph and caption might be.

Regards
Gerry McGinty

These online back issues of Naval Aviation News might be worth browsing for Korean Bearcat info and pics http://www.history.navy.mil/nan/backissues/newbackissues.htm

Too late to see action in WW II, the F8F would also see service in Korea, in both the reconnaissance and night fighting roles.

At least 24 US Navy squadrons flew the Bearcat, some until as late as 1952, after which some were sold to the French Armee de l’Air for combat operations in Indo-China. Another 129 Bearcats were sold to the Thai Air Force.

The Photo-recon version of the Bearcat (indicated by the P suffix) was perhaps the only version of that aircraft to see action in Korea.
