Since last Thusesday the Sailing School Ship Kruzenshtern (former German vessel Padua) has been to visit in Valparaiso.
I got to visit it, realy beautifull.
The planed departure to el Callao Peru, was planed to be last Thursday, but for one or an other reason the ship didn’t want to leave the Harbor & was shipping up & down all day long.
1st I thought that they didn’t whant to leave becouse of the nice weather. Then that they had some training with the Chilean cadets.
But in result the news paper here gave away the reason why they hadn’t left yet.
The reason was that last Thursday, when they arrived in the Harbor in the afternoon, they prepared to throw the Anchor. Aperently someone misscalulated the depth. By that they buttet less string on it then needed & threw it out. Result: the Anchor was diving down to the sea ground, but sincethe string was to short they had to cut it before it reached its end, otherhwise it would have destroyed the whole Anchor recovery instalation.
Result: since last Thuesday & until today they have been searching the Anchor in the Bay.
Well, Finally they didn’t found it & they departed to El Callao where they will buy a new one. Price US $40.000.
