From a politician’s point of view, if you stop counting the missiles aimed at you and hide that number from the targeted electorate and Allies, you will not be criticized for being weak on defense.

By Nicholas KralevThe United States is about to lose a key arms-control tool from the closing days of the Cold War — the right to station American observers in Russia to count the long-range missiles leaving its assembly line.

To be honest, once a country’s nuclear arsenal reaches the point whereby it can wipeout all life on Earth, I really don’t see the point in counting on any further.

The US started a nuclear deal with a non NPT member… I think that was a much worser move. One side you punish nations for trying civil nuclear technology, the other side you give a nation that wants to produce atomic weapons to do so by sponsoring its civil markets. I think there is no excuse for that.

In addition Russia will not up the ICBM production from the current level of 6-11 ICBM/year to i.e. 20-30 ICBM/year. It can’t do this. The big “?” is the number of MIRVed RS-24 and the number of warheads it carry. Nothing dramatic at all.

Don’t see that move as dramatic. As long as your own system is robust and survivable the numbers on the other side don’t really matter.

When Russia and US.. or was it NATO, agree on a new START III deal.
I’m pretty sure Russia & US will work out a new observation deal on their own.
When is the START III deal taking place?
The climat between Russia and US now is quite good, compaired with the Republicans reign a few years ago..
They have their twist & thorns like Georgia etc etc, but this does not hamper the relationship between them.
They actually talk and sign deals at unpresident rate, compair to earlier times..
Thanks

It’d be highly suicidal.

When you ignore the drivel spouted by the media and actually examine Bush’s record, you’ll find that he was to the left of the majority in his party.
Second that!

Well that’s subject to perception. Anyways, I was merely referring to those senators/congress members raising their voices now.

Some Republicans are seriously messed up in their brains. Their own freaking President ended the treaty and they blame Obama for it. That plus their retarded push to paint a picture of evil, communist Moscow would be almost funny, if it wasn’t quite dangerous.
