JASDF A2A Missiles

I’m wondering which AIM-9 and AIM-7 versions did JASDF get? AFAIK P/L for AIM-9 and E/F for AIM-7; is that true?

Thx

JASDF acquired ~30 AIM-120 missiles and fitted them onto several aircrafts from the Nyutabaru base for testing and evaluation purposes, and perhaps also to study counter-tactics.

That might make sense given the reworking of the AAM-4 as the AAM-4 Kai.

The JASDF received at least some AMRAAMs for testing purposes but then decided to go with their own BVR missile. At least this is what a friend of mine who is a JASDF F-15J pilot told me.

AAM-4 has been superceded by AAM-4 Kai, and the Kai variant is the one that will enter full service, right?

And when did Japan get AMRAAMs? I must’ve missed that one.

Wondering if the JASDF will ever have the Meteor, ASRAAM, IRST-T or any other European missile in the future?…

AIM120 = Japanese AAM-4
IRST-T = Japanese AAM-5
