If the program is dead and fealure why it is presented in MAKS-2007?
Just because, probably. They didn’t even release images of the missile until a year or two ago. There’s been a lot of interest in Meteorit so they probably dusted one off and brought it out for display. They do that every once in a while at MAKS.
As far as I know the wair launhed version the Koala AS-19, is not a fealure, and is in service.
Kh-80 was never inducted into service, nor were the surface or sub launched versions. This one is the sub-launched version, by the way, identified as such by the lack of the additional tail fairing seen in the previously released images of the Kh-80.

Well it could possibly enter in service as convesional weapon, like US Tomahawk, probably with 1ton HE warhead. 2X200KTs of Meteorit means 2 Tomahawks. Finally I want to ask if more powerful nuclear warhead had the tomahawk of the Granit P-700?
I think it would be far too big and far too expensive to operate in the same way the Tomahawk does. Thats why the Russians have the Kh-55/555 design.;)

If the program is dead and fealure why it is presented in MAKS-2007?, and also I want to ask if someone knows the specifications of this missile, I mean weight, warhead, diameter, how long it is etc.
Just to show off some design capability, try and attract some funding, maybe just fill floor space.
IIRC it was meant to have 2 nuclear warheads.

Its a shame really, this missile has one serious ‘cool factor’ about it.:diablo:
Yeah, based purely on looks and advertised performance characteristics, this is probably one of the coolest weapon systems ever.

Nope. The Meteorit program was a pretty huge failure. The idea was great, the general concept was great, but the missile just wouldn’t cooperate. Almost all of the test launches resulted in some sort of failure.

Is any possibility for Meteorit – M to be used also as naval launched land attack cruise missile? I mean to be used with convesional warhead, and also to arm both Oscar II, and the modernized “admiral Nakhimov” alongside with the Onyx.

Looks very much like the Anjian, is this a Russia-China collabaration along the lines of BrahMos?
No this is a missile designed and tested in the late eighties by the Soviet Union. High Mach speed with 2 warheads and a very long range. However it was huge and would have required a specially built Tu-160 to carry 2 of them internally.

It looks like they grafted a Mig-29 intake onto a missile.

I’ve not heard any official plans about restarting development. The initial testing went very badly if I recall correctly.
More pics once the public are allowed in…

Thanks for posting! Are there any plans to re start this program? I would not be surprised if there is considering the recent developments in Russian strategic forces.
