ABM videos

These are some videos I stumbled onto today right here:

http://www.srmsc.org/index.shtml

I’d been to the site in the past but they have updated it with a number of excellent videos. I’d recommend the site to anybody remotely interested in ABMs and particularly the Sprint and Spartan complex. This is the page with the videos:

http://www.srmsc.org/mis2000.html

Many of them are in slow motion (well at least slowed down a bit 🙂 ).

A brief rundown:

One video shows a Spartan silo lid explosively opening (they were actually welded shut and opened with a linear shaped charge) and the Spartan blasting out of it.

Multiple Sprint launches

Sprint RV intercept.

Spartan (actually a Zeus in this case) 3rd stage demonstration vectored thrust by having the rocket exhaust through the trailing edges of the four fins. All in all there is a LOT of information on this site including PDFs of the construction of the Sprint and Spartan missiles and descriptions of many of the technological hurdles they had to overcome.
