Thought the 5fps would be great as I used to burst a lot of the time, but having used it once or twice, I’m actually using ‘one shot’ as the shutter release seems much more responsive.
I very rarely use 5fps (the last time I did in fact was shooting some mad people jumping off a cliff in Cyprus). I almost always keep my 30D at 3fps but I didn’t get it for speed. I simply went for the 30D as I thought it would stand up to the amount of travelling I do much better than the 350D (which I think it has so far). I do like having one lens almost permanantly on the 30D and another one on the 350D, though. Not changing lenses is great for lazy photographers like me!

I’ve come to exactly the same conclusion. I use single shot mode almost exclusively now.

Didn’t think it’d be as easy as just moving the dial without any prompting of a function first.
Yeah it’s a big change compared to my old 350D. It’s working well having the 100-400 on the 30D and 24-105 on the 350D, cutting out lens changes.

Thanks a lot guys!!!
It works perfectly!!! Can’t believe I didn’t try just moving the wheel on it’s own. :p
Thanks again,
Alex
No worries, Alex. Glad it’s OK! Isn’t it great having a camera where (almost) everything is so easily accessible?!

Paul, I think you must have read my PM to Alex.
Your defo changing the flash comp. Just move the wheel for the EV.

Alex, the button you’re pressing on the top is flash exposure compensation, not normal exposure compensation. When you adjust this you are actually adjusting the flash compensation but on pressing the shutter release the screen automatically defaults to showing you the settings for standard exposure compensation. If you press the metering mode/flash compensation button again and look at the display you’ll see it again shows you the settings you previously entered.
To adjust exposure compensation, just move the wheel on its own. 🙂
Hope that helps.
