Hi,
trying to upload some pictures onto the website and get the following message:
IMG_0136.JPG:
Your file of 1.72 MB bytes exceeds the forum’s limit of 293.0 KB for this filetype.
So my question is “how do I reduce the file size?”
If it helps I’m using Canon ZoomBrowser Ex when I upload onto my pc.
Cheers
Tim

The other part of saving .jpg file to make them smaller aside from reducing resolution is the compression. When you save a jpg and it asks for your compression, the smaller the number the smaller it makes the file (as well as making the file crunchier and crunchier) the higher the number, the better the quality of the saved file and thus the bigger the file size.

Download and install Picasa. Its free, has some basic tools including resize and it will also catalogue your images making them easier to find.
Try reducing the size to the photo into smaller dimensions. Try for example 640×480 pixels.

Resizing photos
If you are using windows XP,you can right click on the photo file and send it as an email and when the email window opens up it will ask you to save the original file size or reduce it, you click reduce and it wil shrink the file size down. If you need to, you can do this twice by saving the first attachment to your desktop and then doing the send to email recepient again. It sounds hard but is easy to do and takes seconds. I do this with my photos.
