I Knew It Would Happen (Canon 40D)

As soon as i go out and buy a camera, they bring out a newer model!!!!!!

No seriously I’m very happy with the 30D, but if your thinking of buying one then it could be a good time as the price is low and could go lower.

The new 1Ds Mark 111 looks nice also, 21meg, (nice price £5500)

For me , the 40D is great news. I didnt bother with the 20 or 30D because i felt they didnt handle as well as my trusty 10D, i own a 350D as a back up camera, but, like the 400D it’s just too small for my hands.
So….the 40D is (at the moment) looking to be my next purchase.
Dont forget chaps, it also has 6.5 frames per second, great for that crossover shot. Time will tell.
Dont forget Nikon have just brought out a bunch of new bodies, so it’s not just Canon who are tempting to part with our hard earned.

Could not agree with you more George J, my other SLR is an Canon A1 (FD) , I missed out on the EOS film cameras altogether finding I was getting enough from manual focus, hands to shakey now and digi to good to leave any longer.

Meeh in about 18-24 months there will be a 50D (and a 450D) and then 60D. This will go on and on. I firmly believe you need to “outgrow” your equipment not get the latest and greatest just coz its there.

For once I agree with PMN.

The 40D certainly does look nice, but an even bigger screen, 2 extra megapixels and a few other new features just arn’t enough for me to want to ditch my faithful 30D and go get one. Even my 350D still performs rather superbly. 🙂

As for the 1Ds Mk III… I can at least dream!
