Laundered memory cards.

Unfortunately I have managed to put 3 Compact flash cards through the washing machine. Amazingly, having dried them out, they still work.

I am wondering if this will have shortened there life at all and consequently if I would be taking a risk to continue to use them.

Any advice or opinions welcomed.

Not quite, but almost off topic.

I was astounded to see that Amazon are now selling 1GB xD cards for less than £8 – Eight UK PDS STLG – I can remember, not too long ago, when they were £80 and more. 😡

Dont forget Kids eat FREE on Tuesdays at Dennys 😀 Sorry getting off the thread now.

Off topic, but, the question is do you *really* want to eat at Denny’s ? 😀

I think this link just about describes what to do with memory cards in the washing.

I was a bit shocked too, expected prices to be high in the Orlando Tourist traps, but Wal-Mart is currently more expensive than my local Asda`s !

With of course Asda being part of the Wal-Mart group:D

All this and the dollar rate being at a 14 year high

Oh well least unleaded was £1 a gallon :p

Jamie

My thoughts exactly, the “gas” price made swishing around in a 3.5 litre V6 Chevrolet a pleasure – and of course, a family of four can (literally) eat themselves to a standstill for just over £25 a night at any number of steak-house chains….

Having checked the replacement costs, I decided to take the safe option and replace them.

Two 1Gb cards from Ebuyer at around £12 each.

After all, I would hate for them to fail when the sky is full of Indian Flankers this summer.

Digital memory card prices – US vs UK

Joking aside i thought i got a bargain two weeks ago in the US getting 2GB CF`s at $64 ( £32ish ) each, but saw in Jessops today 2GB at £29. Is that a good price?

🙂

Having just come back from two weeks hols in central Florida I was somewhat surprised to see that digital memory (CF, SD and Flash drives) is no cheaper on the Stateside high-street than it is here, I had hoped to pick up some cheaper CF cards and memory sticks whilst on hols, but came back with none as I can get them at lower prices from UK web-based retaillers.

Some of my CF cards have the warning on the back……

CAUTION – Do not bend – drop – or expose to impact. Avoid Heat, moisture and direct sun light.

Hope you didnt use a boil wash 😀

Solid state so they are pretty durable. I have seen this done before with flash drives and all’s been okay. You don’t get much in the way of potentially-damaging, large EM fields/electricity going on in a washer I guess?

I thought this thread was about organised crime!
