Night Creative photos – Help Required

Ok, i have never done this before, but i want to give it a go.

I have a 350D with 28-105 / 75-300mm

Managed to borrow a tripod.

I want to go to MAN and get some nice creative landing shots, the type with a slow shutter speed, eg 20 secs,

I have no idea which mode to put my camera on, which settings to use, if anybody could write me a checklist associated with my Camera, of what to do exactly, it would be a great help, saves me messing around when im up there and missing the traffic.

So something like …

1) Set self up / tripod / 28-105 lense ( Farmers Field ) Ringway Rd …. ?? )
2) Rotate dial to M mode …..

etc

etc
