Nice Weather For Dux.

An enjoyable first show of the season although photography wise the Tamron 150-600mm did struggle a bit in the bad light. In the order they were taken over Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks Brian (Perhaps this should be in the tutorial section ? 🙂 )

Interesting what you say about using manual mode as opposed to shutter or aperture priority.
When I went to Duxford on Friday, I ended up using manual mode. Saying that, Lightroom is a
great programme for making adjustments, as long as you don’t get carried away. Which I find easy
to do.

I may have another look at the 18-300mm lens.

Alan

Problem with magazine reviewer’s is that if it isn’t made by Canon/Nikon then it isn’t any good. Best review’s for any lens I find are on Bird spotting forums.

On Saturday I was using manual settings and zooming, on Sunday I used Shutter Priority and kept the lens at 600mm just for something different. The Sea King/B-17/Fury are at 600mm and at f6.3 had to be sharpened a bit. The Tamron is at its best at f8 to f11 and with the sun shining, f11 is very sharp.

It isn’t an exceptional lens which is reflected in the price, if it was then it would cost two maybe three times more than it does. The more I use it though the more I’m impressed with the picture quality I can get from it.

I did an initial review of the lens when I first got it last year and I’ll be updating the page below at the end of the 2015 air show season. 😀

The pictures look pretty good to me.
I would guess that you weren’t zoomed in to much more than 400mm.
They seem pretty sharp, and assume that’s how they came out of the camera ?

I was looking at buying the Nikon or Tamron 18/16 -300mm superzoom, but was put off by some of the reviews.
Most saying that there was a big drop off in performance at maximum zoom. They also say the same about
the 150-600mm you use. Although saying that, a lot of the reviewers seem to have their own agenda.

How do you find it Brian ?, for the price I would expect it to be exceptional.

Impressive lens quality…love the 3 Mustangs. Handheld, mono or tripod?
