To be exact, the ‘Norwegian Wings Over North Weald Fun Day And Fly-In’
The Norwegian presence was to mark the significant role played by North Weald in WWII Royal Norwegian Air Force operations. Unveiled yesterday in front of veterans, volunteers and military personnel was a new memorial:
Present were a pair of F-16s:

Joining the F-16s were a T-33 and two Vampires:

Also making an epic trip from Norway for the event was a PT-19A Cornell LN-BIF, ‘Spirit Of Little Norway’ representing the trainers used in Canada:

It was the ‘Norwegian Wings Over North Weald Fun Day And Fly-In’
You must have stumbled upon the ‘fun’ part!?

It was a good day out.
However, sometimes I’m left scratching my head;
They had this little enclosure marked out with Norwegian flags. Suddenly, and two times on Sunday, some Indian dancers started doing their routine to loud techno music. Some children doing a cheerleading routine did a show as well. I was left wondering where exactly THAT stuff fitted in with the rest of the theme and day. :confused:

Good to see the T33 in action properly, but I was disappointed not to see her display on Saturday at Duxford. Waited all day only to see it fly back to NW after it had some problems. Looked like a good show on at North Weald.

The Vampire formation keeping was excellent – can’t say the same for the F-16’s though…:)

Was good to see them at Duxford but looks like you had more fun and got a lot closer to them. Lovely stuff.

I saw the Vampires as I was driving up to Duxford and wondered what was going on.
Nice pictures – It looks as if you saw a lot more of them than I did at Duxford. I was most disappointed.
