My trips to Farnborough have usually been on a Friday so as a retirement treat, I decided to have a Monday visit as well to see if I could catch some airframes that had usually departed before the Friday. The weather was a bit naff with showers and at the start of the flying the cloud base was a bit low but did lift during the afternoon. Very grey aeroplanes on a very grey day. As per usual with Farnborough, the static was difficult to shoot and I’ll post a few from that later.
Not dirt on the sensor just cut grass we got blasted with when it took off.

Friday 13th Added
Friday 13th.
I was expecting a few school kids to be there, as in the past on the Friday, but not as many as there were. Just getting from Gate B, past the Media centre to the show ground, they hung around in large groups and the word ‘excuse me’ and ‘can I get through please’ seemed to be a foreign language to them. I ended up just barging through scattering them as I went. I even had a few suits carrying brief cases following in my footsteps. Again it was make the best of the static, which is not set out with photographers in mind, so I went low level and high up most of the time. Should have taken my mono pod. On Monday I was down where the Vulcan was parked for some rotation and landing shots and this time I went up to the top end, opposite the Virgin Spaceship, for wheels down approach shots. The Breitling Jet Team displayed instead of the Red Arrows who hadn’t had their validation flight yet. First time I had seen them and was quite impressed with the routine. Although there was a bit more blue sky and sunshine in the morning the usual cloud with rain showers rolled in for the afternoon. Felt sorry for Mark Jefferies in his Extra 330 because as he lined up at the end of the runway, the only really heavy shower that afternoon hit Farnborough and every one seemed to scattered from the crown line to find shelter. The rain stopped just as he completed his routine.

Very nice Brian.
I am going tomorrow (11th), hoping for some bright spells in the afternoon, but not very optimistic:rolleyes:
