As a birthday treat my better half took me away for a weekend of aircraft. Good thing she likes them almost as much as me…
Firstly Saturday’s trip to Airbase. And nice to meet the Shackleton again

And the ‘Rod I saw fly in only 1 year ago…
The Canberra, waiting patiently
And one of the Daks
In the hangar a YAK
Venom
Meteor
Back outside, the DC-6
Sticking our noses in the next hangar showed the Hughes 500 still in residence
And one of the Dragons undergoing surgery
Back outdoors, one of the Hunters
And Canberra
Finally a view from the (highly recommended) DC-6 Diner
Brunty shots to follow shortly.

Cheers all, first proper go with new camera so I was pleased with the results! SH Ali’s a bit of an airshow veteran in her own right already. Which is a good thing!
Rich it’s what’s known as sod’s law. Next time…
Some more from CWJ

Glad to see you enjoyed yourself at Airbase! Sorry I wasn’t there to have a chat with you on the Shackleton.
Cracking photos from Bruntingthorpe too.

Very nice. Love the shot of the Lightning with the heaters on.

The remains of a VC10 looked on
While the JP’s had a play
As did the Nimrod
And a certain V-bomber was there too…

Fod plodders. Well done chaps

Some of the weekend’s flyers

All in all a brilliant weekend. Thank you to Ali, Ianf and James for ‘tech support’ on the Sunday, and well done to all at Airbase and Brunty.

Sunday saw us bright and early at Bruntingthorpe. The weather was a little dull, but at least the wind seemed to be pretty much down the runway as opposed to the crosswind fun of last year. Firstly we paid the Lightning QRA shed a visit
One out, one incarcerated with both engines out currently
And a certain V-bomber was dominating the car park.
Down to the flightline where some of the stars of the day waited…

Nice to see a Nimrod and Victor together in colour schemes very different to the examples we’re used to at Elvington.
But where were the Buccaneers?
First we could hear the startup, then the tails came into sight over the hump, then there they were. A magnificent sight and wonderful start to the show
Where else but Brunty can you see 3 Buccs dancing?!

900 having a quiet smoke…
One happy backseater! Note the thumbs up![]()
Our own Victor Sim (Ollie) takes 544 for a drive
I had to go see the Sea Vixen
And Ali was taken by the Super Guppy
The Lightning was, as usual, awesome
Nice tribute chaps.
A gentle stroll
And back
And then the loud lever got some exercise!
The sun came out for the Victor
Next time lads blow the tyres up, and shut the hatch after you disconnect the Houchin…
Part 2 soon
