Quaxmeet & Airshow Paderborn

Well, not in Britain, but hopefully nevertheless interesting for you since we had some machines & gentlemen at Paderborn you might know.
Due to the `suboptimal´ weather conditions (everything from sunshine to thunderstorms) the awaited historic aircraft from Britain could not arrive, but nevertheless a very interesting weekend at Paderborn airport.

Let´s begin with the Quax-Flieger Tiger-Moth project D-ESPS/T7213. The machine should be airborne next season.

The wings are under reconstruction with Rob Wirth

Many thanks indeed from me too, Harvardfreund, for the photos, and good to see Des Penrose enjoying the show. Great too to see Rob Wirth, who flew me in D-ENDI at Mahlwinkel ca 1992.

Well, hopefully in some years it will be a mixture of Duxford, Old Warden and Hangar 7 (Flying Bulls) :D:D

And here we have the reason why the www.quax-flieger.de group had so much aircraft & manpower at the event: This winter a new event-hangar will be finished at Paderborn airport. The building will house most of the Quax fleet and a restoration shop where visitors have the chance to see how old aircraft are being maintained & restored 😀

We had the privilege to have Desmond Penrose flying in our Klemm 35. Well, seems that the gentleman had some fun, too 🙂

On saturday & sunday there was the official Airshow at the airport with some interesting participants: The www.quax-flieger.de had most of their current fleet on show.
You might remember our Klemm 35 & Buecker Bestmann – they flew from Old Warden until this spring.

We had the WW.II Fighter pilot Hajo Herrmann together with british test pilot Desmond Penrose, Robert Wirth who has worked some years at Old Warden helping some precious machines coming back to live and J.M. Munn, the chief engineer from the Shuttleworth Collection. Also among the visiting veterans was Erich Brunotte, a german fighter pilot (talking to the pilot of the visiting MRCA Tornado).
