Photobucket problem or was a problem

Nanny State gone mad

I have had a picture of Anna Walkers Bucker Jungmann taken at a public show at Old Buckenham removed by photobucket because it had a Swastika on the tail

What the hell next

after some discussion they have restored it

maybe thanks Keith

I know strictly speaking its state intervention but it can also be a general expression of authority gone mad (State or otherwise ).

tarkey, I think maybe Orion has the wrong interpretation of your phrase ‘Nanny State’

I agree that the photo ought not to have been removed, but in what why was the British state or government involved in this matter?

Regards

who said anything about the British Government

At the end of the day it’s their site, so I suppose they have the final say on what is and isn’t acceptable.

Still, all’s well that ends well.

It does seem more than a bit OTT, though.

they just deleted it. When I noticed I emailed therm and got “Violation of terms”
I then protested saying why, as the picture was taken by me at a public show.
They then said they would look at it again and might restore it. I then emailed again asking on what grounds was it deleted.

this is their answer

Dear Tarkey Barker,

We remove swastikas when it is used in a hateful manner. The image was removed in error.

Sincerely,

Your Photobucket Support Team”

their previous email

“We are glad to review the content moderation done to your account. If images were removed in error, they will be restored shortly. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Sincerely,

Your Photobucket Support Team”

Anna Walkers Bucker Jungmann does not have a Swastika on the tail. The aircraft is in a civilian blue/siver grey scheme with no military markings of any type.

Trevor

Ok I may have got that bit wrong. The Jungman did display at Old Buck where this was taken. It might not have been Anna Walker, but thats not the issue. The issue is the photo being removed by Photobucket for breach of terms which they then said was because of the Swastika.

The names of the two gentlemen mentioned by Grey Area are both on the side of this aircraft !
Richard, of world aerobatic fame, is at the controls, and his son Michael is piloting the Bucker (CASA 131) above. All from photos of Old Buckenham Show 2010.

According to the CAA website, the aircraft in the picture is registered to two gentlemen from Orpington.
