Old Warden from the Car Park – 04Oct09

My intention was to get some take off and landing shots from the top end of the airfield during the show this visit. The signs were not promising though with the windsock pointing in different directions in the breeze. The Classic Wings Rapide touching down one wing low. Visiting aircraft side slipping to land on the main runway, all indications of a bit of a cross wind. So I played safe and opted for my usual spot in the car park just up the rise from the control tower, must get that aerial chopped down, for the gratuitous topside angles over the dogleg. A good call as during the show, aircraft were taking off from the main runway and landing on the cross-runway so I wouldn’t have obtained the shots I wanted anyway.

The weather played ball, apart from the wandering breeze which grounded the Edwardian’s at the end of the day and the clouds obscuring the sun from time to time, for a very enjoyable last show of the season at Old Warden.

Thats the 2nd shot (at different venues) ive seen of the 108 with smoke in the cockpit. No shots of the Hurry bomber and the moon?

Look like there was as much smoke inside the cockpit of the 108 as it was making outside. Hope the pilot had a smoke hood!
