Just a few from last Sunday’s members day.
A shorter flying programe than normal but excellent flying as normal, thanks to all for a lovely day.
Missed the flypast with the Dak as lead as we did not know it was coming from where we were seated.
No one seemed to know the history of this Lightning but it is thought to be a gate gardian. Where, any ideas ??

Out of the pocket camera used so not up to the normal high standard of pictures on here.

I wish I had took a picture of the engine and the paperwork now.
It read something like – do not touch, engine has had permission to be here by Chief Engineer, see him for more information.
If they owned or part owned it would not have that type of notice on it in my view.
Perhaps Fluffy could help ??

Thanks James.
I do not believe that they own half or any part of G-BMSB/MJ627.
As far as G-INFO is concerned, Mr Bayliss still owns this aircraft and it is still based at East Kirkby.
Brian.
Makes you wonder why BBMF have it at the moment then, I have seen pictures of BBMF pilots flying her over RAF Coningsby maybe on a training display flight?

Also interesting was a Merlin owned by Maurice Bayliss was in the hanger, is G-BMSB having a service and do the BBMF engineers look after his engine too?
Brian.

The Lightning in the photo has the belly tank from a Mark 1, 2 or 3 – is it XS897 masquerading as an earlier mark?
I believe it is representing an F3 as flown by 29sqn.

Thanks for the info.
All I can find out – June 2009 XS897 was sold and has been moved to another location. Anyone know who?

The Dakota lead a trail of fighters out to Spilsby…and orbited twice :):)..before heading away North across the town..and then a work colleague spotted them over Sausthorpe heading back West. Then spotted again over Horncastle..
The two orbits proved good…as it enabled my dad who does not move so swiftly these days time to power up his walking sticks and get out the house to catch the second orbit:);)
I did catch them above home home here at Spilsby with my snap shot camera….Cringe quality video on this link; http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d12/Spilsby/?action=view¤t=MVI_2504.flv 😮
The sound comes over not too bad though.??
I wonder if any photos were taken from the Dakota door.??
Meanwhile, on Saturday another work colleague was at a wedding reception at the Petwood and reports a Spitfire pair flypast taking place..which he much enjoyed…
