I hope your gear was waterproof! Your little Schopf was popular that afternoon……:)

That’s me with the black wolly hat on,standing directly in front of the Hawk,
we have 2 of those new tractors, there OK, but will only take 2 in the cab, where our older douglas taskmaster could carry 4 easily, makes the Schopf a pain when we are moving aircraft to the paintshop or detuner for engine runs.

weather was really bad, rained all day till around 5 then started to clear, we [the hawks] didn’t fly except for 1 in from Yoevilton & he returned in a FN100 a/c aabout 4pm, waste of a working day for us ground crew, we were just hanging about waiting for the weather to lear & then after the guys crewed in, their bit of the FN100 flypast & display was cancelled.

Si – didn’t see this post until just now. Shame – could have said hi. Did anyone happen to get a photo of the RNHF Chipmunk taxying in on Tuesday lunchtime with the white ensign flying from the rear cockpit (as opposed to on Wednesday)?

Gave up all thoughts of attending. Weather was going to be absolutely dire until 16:00, and that proved to be the case by all the TV reports during the day.

I expect a few items got up, and promptly came back down though.

Did it go ahead, or was it rained off?

MetO radar shows the clag cleared the Roseland peninsular at about 1630 local – hope they managed to get you a display before the bars open….

Yes – I have it on good authority it was practicing it’s display over Helston yesterday afternoon.

The weather is just starting to clear up down there now – or so the latest METAR says… Here’s hoping they’ll attempt to at least squeeze a bit of the flying display in…

Yep the Vixen was up yesterday.

That’s the Culdrose I knew and loved. Only difference between winter and summer was the air temp, and the amount of traffic on the roads.

Tuesday doesnt look much better….especially the afternoon when we are meant to arrive. We’ll just have to see how things go. May have to leave earlier tomorrow than planned.

Martin

Not a good idea – wind is heaviest in the morning from about 1am to 10am wind is as high as 34km/h, Moderates to 18km/h around 10 and gets only a few km/h lower till about 4pm, then speeds up to 24km/h.

But rain is forecast throughout the whole day.

Tuesday’s (todays) windspeed is higher, but only “chance of rain”. Suspect clouds will be low, visibility poor.

I havent been to Culdrose for years, but this year will hopefully be arriving on Tuesday night and departing after the display has finished the following day.

Just checked metcheck and its looking quite good – showers in the morning and then getting better as the day progresses.

Martin

I’ve just checked the weather for wednesday and it doesn’t look good at all.

My guess is that some aircraft won’t make it at all because of the high winds in the morning.
