RAF Waddington airshow Sat 4 July 2009

Very good weather, few gaps and variety made me enjoy the show. However the most notable absence in the sky was the Vulcan that due to the ‘mix up over paperwork’ which could see it grounded for anywhere between a few days and quite some time. The only loud jet noise of the day was the Typhoon which closed the show. No F16, F18 or anything else like that.

I thought international participation was still well represented but it could have done with a couple of more loud jets. No criticism intended here as I am ure everyone knows that the organizers put in 110 per cent to make the show work and for me it did.

I got in and out of the show with no problem at all despite a record crowd that reached car parking capacity for the airfield.

A few pictures from me for starters.

Pretty amazing that some of the Hawks have been longer in service than the Spitfire ever was, apart from BBMF.

I can still remember as if it was yesterday when the Reds still has Gnats.

Thanks

And very good care indeed.

Martin

Cheers, XX157 is 33 years old, looks good for a 1976 airframe doesn’t it.

Good to see all our hard work prepping these for the weekend got used, they look pretty good.

for all the number collectors these 4 are XX157,XX159,XX261 & XX281, XX205 was on static [see other Waddington photo thread & XX221 was the flyable spar [this a/c doesn’t wear the special Fly Navy 100 livery, we only have 7 in this celebration of Navy flying 100 years livery, all navy hawks are based at Culdrose, as I work & take great care of them.

And very good care indeed.

Nice work, thanks for sharing. I particularly like the Typhoon and the underneath shot of the AN-2! 🙂
