Staverton Sun 12 October

A trip via Fairford (to find it smothered in fog and little being visible) ended in a trip to Staverton, both for dinner and to photograph some light aircraft. This was going fine, then a surprise came chugging over the airfield and stayed for a rotors running refuel. Light was tough as the sun was quite low, but this is what I ended up with –

I was having huge difficulty in focussing for this shot, I didn’t realise the jet wash was moving right in front of the crewman!

Over-exposed I know, apologies

I spot a Vulcan cockpit and a Meteor too.

Indeed you do! Vulcan B2 XM569 and Meteor T7 WF784, both Jet Age Museum storage until such a time as a new site can be found for the dormant museum.

the Canberra TT.18 WK126 is ex Jet Age (Long Term Loan), now privately owned – watch this space 😉

Apologies for stealing the thread wcfcan – it’s just not often I see anything local appear here!

Canberra spotted!

Aaahh, if you look EXTREMELY closely centre left in Chinook shot number 3, my old dear friend WK126 can be seen lurking in the background with a green cover over her canopy 😀

Nice to see some shots of a local airfield, Staverton can porvide some nice little gems from time to time

It most certainly is the DO225 that does Jersey & IOM from Staverton.

Nice pics

Many thanks. Is that the Dornier that does the schedule to the IOM?

Nice shots with a “different” take on the action with the crew-man doing the refuelling. But what about the light aircraft? Any offers? We’re not all military mad are we?
