Little Gransden in the Haze – 31st August 2008

Despite the wall to wall mist when I got up and the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms predicted that afternoon, by 09.00 it had lifted sufficiently for me to decide to go, after all it’s only 15 miles away. A good call, as it turned out to be a cracking little show. The morning was quiet, as it was still too foggy for visiting aircraft but by mid-day had lifted sufficiently we could see clouds and the horizon and aircraft started arriving. The star of the show for me was the Spartan and the Spartan and the PC-12 in formation was just the bees knees. The PC-12 is an impressive display aircraft. A bit of humour was added during the flour, plain of course, bombing during the barnstorming routine as a ‘WC’ had been set up and explosions were going off around it. It started shaking and then tipped over and someone wearing bloomers and trousers around his ankles made a dash for it as the ‘WC’ went up in a flash bang.

Despite the weather conditions looking as though it had kept the crowds down and contributing to a ‘make it up as we go along’ type programme, there was a bit of blue sky and sunshine later in the afternoon with no sound or sight of thunderstorms. A harty well done to everyone at Little Gransden for turning what could have become a non-event because of the weather into a very enjoyable day out.

Nice images Brian.

I like the last one the best followed by the aerobatic top pass. Thanks for posting

Also my belated congratulations for three of your nice images in the Legends show souvenir program. They are very good and clear.

Cheers

Martin
