Canon 100-400 L v Sigma 50-500

Going to NYC for New years and going to come home with a new lense. Was just wondering which people would recommend.

1)Canon 100-400IS EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM with Image Stabilizer

or

2)Sigma Lens 50-500mm f4-6.3 EX APO RF HSM SLR CAMERA LENS

Which is better for Aviation photography and normal photography.

Anyone got any sample pictures using both lenses to compare the two.

Thanks.

I got the Sigma 18-200 and Canon 100-400 and am very pleased with that combo. The 50-500mm seems attractive but at 1.7 kg a bit insanely heavy to carry around your neck all day. I’d say the 100-400 is the most popular airshow lens around – for a good reason.
