Kemble Saturday afternoon

Here’s a few from Kemble this afternoon. Nice to see 3 Tornado F.3 specials together with a first public outing for 111 Sqn’s 90th jet.

Beautiful lighting – did you take any of the more historic jets you could share to give a flavour of the variety? Is that Martin Baker’s Black Meatbox in the background of the Merlin shot – has it made it in after all?

Sorry Consul I didn’t. Just did not have the chance as the sunny spells were few and far between. However, besides the aforementioned MB Meatbox all 3 Canberra’s are on display together with the newly arrived Buccaneer and 3 Hunters. The camo non flyer from DJ, the aircraft painted as the prototype and one in Swedish colours.

2 other Hunters and the yellow Gnat were on the flightline together with 3 JP/Strikemaster.

That’s about it, Sea Hawk and some others should arrive in the morning.

Rob, you’re quite correct! The 43 Sqn bird has (apparently) already gone t’s up with a dodgey thrust reverser microswitch. Been playing up all season someone said.

Should be some GR.4’s arriving tomorrow morning so look out if you’re in the airfield before 09:00. It’s likely they’ll come from Brize as the the 13 Sqn anniversary jet was on static today. Fingers crossed we’ll see Shiney Two!!!

Seee yaw’ll tomorrow, and don’t forget to come and visit XM496, the donations box needs some coffers – hint, hint 😉

I wouldn’t lay any bets on all of them remaining serviceable, though. Three Tornadoes? – It’s a wonder they got there at all. I wonder how many were actually planned!

Tremblers 90th

Love the fin. Nice to see the Leuchars painters could do what 111 wanted as a mixture of “A” and “B” styles

Coningsby couldn’t get that one round their heads……. 😡

Yes the Meatbox was there, along with a full size model of and even earlier Gloster jet…….
