Is this real or just someone’s paranoia? Seems totally unworkable to me, but that little detail has never stopped governments of any persuasion once they get their teeth into something.

Its not as bad as it could be Papa Lima but thats only because of the work of Liberty. This group provides a solid base which fights to maintain civil liberties. Many of its members work in the legal world and dislike clumsy law making plus the misuse of laws.
I have seen public awareness of threats to civil rights increase in recent years and no Uk government will get away with attempts to change the law by strealthy trickery.

Since I emigrated from the UK 30 years ago, I have watched with amazement and horror the gradual descent of that once wonderful country into a pit of restrictions, regulations, taxes, etc. that I would guess have drained all enthusiasm and energy out of the populace.
Nothing on earth would now persuade me to return (other than for the briefest of holidays) to the land of my birth, this is just the latest in incredible government foolishness!
