Something I’ve been wanting to see for a long time, this was the first time Just Jane had fast taxied for the public since arriving at East Kirkby. The recently opened grass strip looked the part (I’m sure it would be a great venue for other aviation events) and many folks made the pilgrimage for this special event. The lighting by 3:30 was not great but somehow this made it all the more poignant, an operational Lanc on a genuine Lincolnshire Bomber Field. Anyhow my photos of the day..

thanks chap’s!! (and all the other staff and volunteers who had the difficult job of marshalling a bumper crowd)

they did 2 fast taxi runs DS (plus a standard low speed taxi earlier in the afternoon, my second photo when the light was much better!). According to the cameras EXIF data I make the first fast taxi run 9 seconds ‘tail up’, and the second in excess of 11 seconds. Pretty impressive for the first time in public!
Incidentally I notice a few folks stating there photos didn’t come out as well as they had hoped. Probably just need a touch of curves adjustment, mine looked very flat out of camera, there was so little contrast by then. Quick and easy adjustment in any image editing programme –

Congratulations to all concerned in this, the mamouth task that has been undertaken to get JJs bottom in the air for the public must be one of 2006s very special moments and with all the work that has gone into the runway to let us see a Lanc on grass
Well done to all of you .

Haven’t done my photos yet (and having seen yours Gareth, I might not bother!)…
My sentiments entirely!
Cracking shots Gareth. Love the third shot, with the vortices coming off the prop tips. I really must invest in a DSLR and long lens; my digital compact just doesn’t cut the mustard with these sort of shots – my tail up shots are pathetic! Shame the Spit couldn’t display, but a great day all the same – many thanks to the organisers.
Go on then… here’s a few.

Well done! How many ‘tail-ups’ did she do? It looked like one lasted about 8 seconds?

Great pics. Wouldn’t it be great just to see her airborn with PA474 though? Even if it was only once.

Great pics. I was there too but my pics arn’t up to scratch.
I’d also like to thank everyone at East Kirkby, it was a great day. The place just gets better and better.
Not sure but think PA474 may have stayed down south as at Shoreham Sat and Sun. Can’t wait to one day see them both at the same time

Superb

cheers everyone, no sign of PA474 unfortunately Lancman. Visibility was very poor, particularly towards the end so there was only one arrival – a Booker Taylor Titch!

Cracking stuff, thanks Gareth – and thanks to those who made it happen. That’s one sweet looking Lanc.

thanks mike forgot it wasnt public. i think the new paint looks good time for her to do some flying again now i think

Peter- the previous taxi runs that you refer to weren’t public events mate, that’s the difference.
Beautiful photos, thanks! 😀
Well done, Chatters- I do so wish they’d post him back to the BBMF, no one flew PA474 quite like he did.
Did ‘474 appear today as well after all?
Mind you, I can’t help but think that NX611 looks just a tad like a very big Airfix model now, with that new paint job.

great pics thanks for posting! Quick correction though, it is not the first time she fast taxied as she did several on the remains of the main runway a few years back.
If anyone has a video clip they can post I would love to see it!
