To celebrate 40 years of the VC-10 being in RAF service, we had a little bit of a flypast here at Wyton. The suppliers and engineers who help keep the aircraft flying work at Wyton. Fortunately it was running a little late as a bit of a rain storm passed through during its time slot. It came in from the north, a bit high, and we thought that was it but it turned. We had two passes. On the second pass, a Hercules was seen flying low on the other side of the airfield, and as the VC-10 climbed out with a lot of noise the Herk turned towards us. It waggled its wings and then banked away and continued on its journey. Probably a case of ‘If a Vikkie 10 can do that, so can we’

Nice pics Brian. I took these at the Wyton/Brampton Families Day. I got there late so missed all the early displays!

As you can see in the second photo, it’s a bit dark in the Warboys direction and apart from a bit of rain at about 4.10 the bad weather seemed to be going either side of Wyton. Fortunate for us. Photos taken at about 4.25.

We were fine until luchtime, then literally as my new car was delivered it rained….it was clean and shiny for how long? 🙁
I do like the VC10, it still looks like something that appeared in Thunderbirds! Such a clean and crisp design that hasn’t aged at all.
I sheltered from the rain in one at the Binbrook Last of the Lightning show!

Pen Pusher, How come you had sunshine at Wyton, and 5 miles away in Warboys I had mainly cloud and rain on Tuesday?
Wish I had known about this, I would have brought the kids down, didn’t even hear it, which is unusual.
great photos, thanks
