Chinese plane maker COMAC said on Wednesday April 1st, that Russian carrier, S7 Airlines, had firmed up an order for 24 C919 aircraft. This would mark the first successful export order for the aircraft which has struggled in the international market.
Based at Moscow Domodedovo Airport with secondary hubs at Irkutsk Airport and Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport, S7 Airlines is one of the largest airlines in Russia. Utilising a fleet narrow and wide-body Airbus and Boeing aircraft, S7 operates services throughout Russia, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, The Middle East, South Asia and the Asia-Pacific regions. The airline was established in 1993 and in 2006, re-branded from Siberia Airlines to S7. In Mar-2008, the carrier formed subsidiary airline Globus, specialising in charter services. S7 has been a member of the oneworld alliance since 2010.
