Just a quick question.
Does anyone know why on landings in a 747-400, the inboard leading edge slats retract when either the wheels hit the runway or the reverse thrust is engaged?
The outboard leading edge slats stay extended.
Thanks

They retract on thrust reverse selection – prevents any damage from “rubbish” being thrown forward during reverse.

Could it be to minimize lift and make sure that the aircraft stays on the runway?
