Branscombe 30 July 2006

Just a reminder of this superb little Devon show, held annually.

There is little available on any website yet – so does anyone know what might be happening there this year?

A taster from last year:

oh indeed, I appreciate everyone was a volunteer, but it was pretty tight down the bottom end and them Mustangs are bleedin heavy.

I fear that Branscombe could have done with more arm wavers…..

I agree….especially down your end, but remember everyone was a volunteer and therefore we cant thank them enough for that. The chap there was called in at very short notice (normally its just me, but this year I just couldnt do it). Dont think it was his fault at all. One year in the past I had the same problem as on Sunday (lack of space) and had to park the P-51Ds against the hedge where the Stearmans were. Not ideal of course as they were close to the public, but space is a premium at Branscombe.

Nice shots there.
I love a good fly-in.

Nice parking too Martin 😀

I have to admit to…not waving my arms around all day. After my little episode with my ticker the week before, I was and still am rather tired and although I did take all my bats and things with me, upon arrival, I just didnt feel up to it. Am now back at work, but still finding everything a little hard to do.

Arrived in style too in the back of the Broussard. The commentator stated that the aeroplane was the ‘Eggesford hack and carried all the spares and luggage’. Hope he wasnt referring to me then!! 🙂

T-6 Flyer did not like it because there were no Harvards/T-6s this year. At one stage I had him with his eyes closed during the Stearman display trying to pretend they were T-6s so he could get his fix!

I must admit to this………sad aren’t I?!

Nice photos as always.

With some 126 aircraft participating in either the fly-in or the flying display, together with the many classic and vintage vehicles on display Branscombe was once again a superb event.

T-6 Flyer did not like it because there were no Harvards/T-6s this year. At one stage I had him with his eyes closed during the Stearman display trying to pretend they were T-6s so he could get his fix!

Anyway a few images of the display aircraft.

interesting lift off? why what happened??

It just seemed from where we were standing (right behind you) that on the roll you had a little bit of a tailwind and seemed to take ages before lift off, just going into the grass on the right of the strip. But then you were full of fuel and not knowing much about P-51s I suppose it was quite the norm when operating out of small strips.

Best wishes,

Martin

I’ll have a look to see what i have, didn’t take many though. Sorry to hear you were unwell

And I’m afraid that I didnt take a camera with me. You didnt really miss that much RobAnt was virtually the same as any other year, cept the Hurricane.

Nice to meet Yak11Fan (looked an interesting liftoff upon leaving). See you at Dunkeswell in two weeks time!

ChampMagic I knew took a lot of photos, I’ll ask him to see if he has some useable on here.

Best wishes and get well soon,

Martin
