It’s not often that you’ll see me posting a link to the Daily Mail’s website as I think it’s a god-awful publication, however I thought I would post this link up as it shows off a potentially interesting new seat design for economy customers.
The thing I like the most about this is the fact that it takes into account the storage of hand luggage as well as taking into account all the other normal features.
As the article suggests though, it does mean that the seats takes up 16% more space, which results in fewer seats being available on onboard. Thus this would mean that airlines would have to charge higher fares in order to compensate for the loss of the number of seats.
Not sure what anyone else thinks, but I’d actually be willing to pay the extra if I knew that I was going to be benefit from a comfort perspective, especially on a long-haul flight.

Seems over complicated and the units above your head would rob you of luggage space. There is little room underneath the luggage bins as it is. Installing these would mean replacing the luggage bins.

Sitting in that, with that big thing above, would be like sitting in a dentist chair. Looks very claustrophobic.
