Flight and Alaska 261

*WARNING – SPOILER ALERT*

If you have seen the movie Flight and you are on this forum, you can probably see the aircraft is loosely based of the MD-80, with the same cockpit, fuselage, tail and wings, with only the addition of winglets. What you may not have noticed is that in the end, the investigation and final report, it looks like Alaska 261 all over again, with a broken jack screw leading to a pitch. As well on flight 261 the pilots tried to invert the plane, as did Denzel Washington. I just thought that it was interesting.

Thanks All!

I haven’t seen the Hollywood? movie but I did see the Mayday/Air Crash Investigation version. I feel sorry for those guys, they did everything that they humanly could to try save the aircraft and occupants. Don’t ever believe what you see in Hollywood movies even if they are based on a real situation.

BTW I don’t think that the spoilers had anything to do with the situation, it was a frozen elevator jackscrew which eventually failed altogether. The jackscrew froze because the correct preventive maintenance had not been done.
