At Vancouver, just had a WestJet 738 fly by at WAY too low, and drop the gear about a minute earlier than it should, over Burnaby. Any info? This happened about two days ago.

Or maybe it was simply a visual approach, or a non-precision approach. There is no way of telling any parameters from the ground like airspeed etc, too many variables.

Possible relocation from Abbotsford ?? Not even a hop, skip and a jump.
Just a guess.

It may have been a go-around/missed approach, however I had never seen any other aircraft fly that low. As far as I could tell it was going the normal landing speed, as I couldn’t tell the flap position. It was possibly trying to intercept the localiser low, however, as I said. It was the only one. Foreign, unfamiliar pilots obviously wasn’t an issue as it was a WestJet plane. As well, it most likely wasn’t a go-around because it was going the approaching side, not the takeoff heading, and this is about 12 km from the runway, by which point sfter doing a full circle they should have gotten their altitude straightened out.

I couldn’t find anything on the net about it, but from what you say, it could have been another ‘flapless’ landing? They had one at Toronto last month.

Or on reflection of your description, it could have just done a go-around? I know at LHR, after a go around, the aircraft raw over my house at about 1/2 the height they otherwise would.
