Just looked on flight tracker today and VS008 is a 747, anyone know if thsi just a 1 off or has the A340-600 been replaced on this route?
i will be dissapointed if it has as i am doing the 747 Gatwick-Vegas out, and the LAX-Heathrow back in July/Aug so was hoping to sample both types

thats exactly what i think about the A340-600 i missed out getting on a DC8 as a child, so looking forward to the stretched A340.
Regarding the flight i am not sure if its just the Sunday nights that they use a 747, that is sad as thats the one we have booked
the middle sector Vegas-LAX we are on a skywest Challenger 200 another new type!!!!!

I don’t know, but I know what you mean about sampling different aircraft types. I’m doing a LHR-DXB-SYD-AKL-DXB-LHR trip soon and took one flight just so I could fly a B777-300ER and for a little variety (all other sectors are the A380-800).
I’ve never flown an A340-600 but I found the A340-300 a little cramped and lacking in headroom. The interesting thing about the 600, though, is its beauty. It is a long and graceful machine in much the same way as the DC-8-61 and 63 aircraft were.
Good luck and I hope you get on one. Not in your favour is the fact that Virgin has not liked the 600, so might be phasing them out for other types.
