Some good news for BMI regional fans, BMI regional has been sold to ‘sector Aviation holdings’ (which includes Granite for those who have been keeping up) for £8m (and I understand they were paid to take it from Lufthansa), so a result for them.
This will safeguard 330 jobs as well as the BMI brand (as well as flybmi.com).
Not sure if they will be branded as BMI from BMI regional.

The press release makes interesting, if a trifle inaccurate reading:
Sector Aviation is a consortium of businessmen with a background in aviation, including a group known previously as Granite Aviation.
It is led by Ian Woodley and Graeme Ross, who set up the regional division in Aberdeen in the 1980s, when it was known as Business Air.
Woodley and Ross set up Business Air which was bought by British Midland when it was close to going out of business. So, they are now going to have a second go? I am deeply sceptical about the chances of success. I do think that BA has played a blinder, got a discount from Lufthansa and managed to sell it.

Good news! Here’s hoping the new owners can make a success of it.
Off subject: BD routes from LHR to Bergen, Basel, Nice, Vienna, Stavangar, Hanover, Agadir, Marrakech and Casablanca will have their BD flight numbers replaced with BA ones from May 23. Also the 11 BD 319s will be progressively moved over to the BA fleet (and will be operated by BA crews) at a rate of about 1 a week from the end of May.

Excellent news! The airline name will continue, no job losses and I will still be able to fly in September.
